Skyline Hikers, as a not-for-profit organization, is totally dependent on volunteers to plan, organize and operate its annual camp and hike program.

There is a critical need to expand the cadre of volunteers on various Standing Committees, Camp Operations, the Council and Executive to facilitate seamless ongoing succession in key leadership positions of the organization.  See below for a list of volunteers needed.

A Volunteer Coordinating Group has been established to facilitate the recruitment and deployment of volunteers from within the membership. They have their own e-mail address to provide a convenient, single point of contact.

If you enjoy the camp and hike program that Skyline Hikers offers and want to see it continue into the future, consider lending a hand every little bit counts. No matter how much time you can devote and the talents you can bring to the table, every little bit counts.

Help Wanted

Western North America Marketing Representative

  • Building bridges to hiking clubs and forming mutually advantageous reciprocal relationships.
  • Promoting Skyline Hikers to the general public through links to provincial or federal tourism bodies, hiking or travel-related businesses and publications across North America, and in other markets which target the Canadian Rockies.

Finance Committee Chair

  • Participates in annual financial review and camp fee setting analysis and recommendations.


  • This role would appeal to someone who likes to work with written and photographic history.
  • The excitement comes in connecting recent and new members with exciting and interesting information from our past.
  • The thrill for all in the archives will be bringing back to light the many great experiences that are hidden in the archives.


  • Purchase and replenish garment inventories as needed.
  • Work with the Musicians who have agreed to sell and distribute garments during the check-in process on the Sunday morning before each camp.

As well, volunteers to serve on or support following committees are desired:

  • Nomination & Volunteer Organization to assist in recruitment of volunteers and follow-up with members offering to volunteer.
  • Marketing & Publicity to help identify marketing & publicity opportunities in your local area.
  • Become an Ambassador to assist in facilitating some of these opportunities.
  • Membership Services to a assist in sales of pins, crests and garments and help run the Photo and Literary contests.
  • Camp to help organize volunteers, bussing, meeting and hotel rooms, parking for annual camps, and re-seed the previous year's campsite.
  • Equipment to help prepare equipment for upcoming camp, and assist with camp set-up at pre-camp.
  • Liaison to participate in meetings and negotiations with government agencies and outfitters.
  • New Sites to explore new areas for the Skyline Hikers.
